During the 2007/2008 season Lisarow Ourimbah Cricket Club fielded 11 teams in senior competition and 9 teams in junior competition as well as Kanga development cricket. The seniors had a total of 172 players registered whilst the juniors registered 115 players.
Whilst the junior teams did not win any competitions both the Under 16 Black side and Under 11’s made it through to the grand final whilst the Under 10’s and 14’s were defeated in their semi finals.
The junior player of the year was Sean Nelson.
The senior club had the most successful season in the history of the club. In fact no club on the coast has had a more successful season. We fielded one team in each grade from 1st to 5th grade and two teams in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
We were Minor Premiers in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades. In 3rd grade we had the same amount of premiership points as the minor premiers however were beaten on quotient whilst in 6th grade our two teams were first and second.
In addition we won the Club Championship by over 500 points, the largest margin ever achieved.
Subsequently we qualified 7 teams for the grand finals and won 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades whilst 1st grade were in a winning position only to have the weather intervene and the game was washed out. As a result Mountains/Kariong who defeated us in the major semi final were declared premiers.
The club had a number of senior cricketers achieve representative honours. Colby Gallagher in the Watsons Shield and Bradman Cup, Ryan Fenning Under 17’s, Andrew Littlefield and David Mitchell Under 21’s and Jeff Hemming in the seniors. Jeff also represented NSW Country in the Australian Country Championships.
In conclusion I would like to thank the Ourimbah Lisarow RSL for their support of the club this season.
Paul Deaves - Secretary
